basically...homecoming

before I continue this post, I have to say what I almost titled it: a week late. meaning that I was posting these pictures a week after the actual event. then I realized that it might be taken the wrong way.....

anyway, last week was my little sister's homecoming and the week before that was my cousins'.  naturally, being superwoman and all, I volunteered to do hair and such.  actually, volunteer is a strong word....I'll just start at the beginning.  September 28th, I was relaxing in my room after a big game when my aunt calls me, around 5:00.  she asks if I'm busy and if I can do Jenna's (my cousin) hair.  sure, what's the worst that can happen?  she has to be at a friend's house by 7.  plenty of time, right?  well, I didn't know that my aunt still had cookies to make to take to the dance.  they weren't at my house until 6 at this point.  great.  then I see that Jenna doesn't have her hair even curled yet!  who's poor planning was this????  and her hair curls about as easily as mine does...which means, not at all.  and after i get done with the 45 minute curling job, she doesn't have the slightest idea what she wants to do with it now....inhale, exhale, figure something out.  I ended up doing a waterfall braid and though I don't have any close ups, I do have 'finished product Jenna'

ps, I did the make-up too!

then on to the next week for Taryn.  yes, I did have another game and, thankfully, Taurie came home to rescue Taryn's hair while I kicked butt on the field...and got a concussion...whoops.  anyway, my little sister is amazingly beautiful and I can't wait to do prom for her!!!!!

isn't she so skinny?????
and the shoes are totally mine. just sayin'

so, basically, when homecoming comes around, I don't know how Taurie did it all these years, but I'm glad she stepped in to help!

basically...road trips

I am on the women’s soccer team for my community college.  I'm also a starter (pat myself on the back).  Being on a collegiate team means that sometimes you have to go to games at other colleges.  Even if they are 3 hours away. *Sigh*  Imagine 17 girls, 20+ boys, four coaches, a cranky bus driver, and two duffle bags of food sitting on a bus for 6 hours at a time.  And there is only one bathroom.  This isn’t even the bad part!  One of the first games of the season I fell during a game and, cover the kids ears, bruised my butt.  It’s better now, like, I can walk with our crying.  But I cannot sit on a bus and expect to fall asleep when every 5 minutes I have to change my position so I don’t get bus cramps.  Well, we have to be at the school to get on the bus at 7:00, drive to another school and play at 1:00, wait for the boys team to get done after us, stop for food on the way back, drive again for another few  hours, then get home and get to bed.  And expect to get up the next day for school.  So I have to be awake from roughly 6:00 in the morning to 11:00 at night.  And I'm one of those people who need sleep or I become very hostile.

Me and my girls not sleeping when we really should be....

It isn't so bad I guess.  I watched Pitch Perfect for the first time on the last bus ride and it inspired all of us to have a sing/dance party the entire way home.  I was even serenaded by the two Spanish-speaking boys on the team.  Not that I knew what they were saying, but it was still sweet.  But basically road trips with the teams can be pretty hit or miss, but memorable all the same.

(Since the original writing of this post, I attained an injury to my ankle and am out of commission, so to speak. I'll keep you posted....no pun intended)

basically...a sad day

packing EVERYTHING away

So, for those of you who don't follow my sister's blog, you wouldn't know that she is moving...this weekend. When I first heard the news earlier this summer, I was really excited and proud of her. She is getting out there and starting her life. Plus, with her gone, I would get me own room! (a brand new experience for me) But, as the summer goes on, and we get closer and closer to D-day, I become more and more depressed. I'm gonna have one of the bigger rooms in my house all alone, which isn't as much fun as it sounds. I'm not going to have access to all of her fab clothes (and vice versa) And, the honest to God most tear-jerking conclusion, I am losing my big sister. True, she is just a phone call away, and with all this modern technology, skype dates have already been set. She has even offered to let me move in when I decide I want to go to school out there. But I am a big family person, and I have a tiny identity issue. All my life I have done what Taurie and Dane did. Dane did track and soccer, a year later, so did I. Taurie cheered and always strived to be at the top of her class, and I followed suit. So, one may understand why losing a huge role-model can be so traumatizing.

In other news, I have been invited to ride out with her, and Roger and Mom, to Massachusetts to help get her settled in (and I may be checking out my future room...) I really detest long car rides, but I'm willing to battle my chronic car-sickness to help Taur move in. But when all of her boxes and totes and wardrobes and baskets leave our living room, it is gonna basically be a real sad day in our household. I will try to keep it together, but no promises for Taurie when she gets around to reading my blog....

basically, an apology

I must apologize to my followers. I haven't been keeping up with my blog posts as I should have and I am sincerely sorry. So, as you must be dying to know what has been going on in my life since you last read, it is as follows:

  • I participated in FAIR WEEK
  • I am almost done with summer classes
  • Soccer practice began
  • My boyfriend left for college
  • and....I GOT A NEW LAPTOP!!!!
I will start with the one that interests me the most; my laptop. Can I just say how amazing this thing is? Yes, it does come with only windows 8, but I have a hard time hating that when it has a TOUCH SCREEN! It is called the lenozo ideapad. Go ahead and google it. I'll wait.......for those of you returning....RIGHT????? It is amazing. If you want an awesome laptop, I def recommend this one.

Enough with the salesperson shit (Best Buy should hire me for this), my next topic should be fair week. Who doesn't love getting up at 5 everyone to go feed, bed, wash, and milk cows at the fair? And then spend the rest of the day there. Oh? You mean not everybody lives like that? I knew  mamma was lying to me! Oh well, it is only for one week out of the year. And I had to work so the responsibilities where thrown on my brother and younger sister.

Summer classes. Woo. *note that there is absolutely no excitement in this topic. The only thing worth celebrating is the fact that I just finished my final and I am thrilled. I hated the class, the people, and the teacher, end of story. Why didn't anyone tell me college was gonna be like this???

Does this look fun to you???

My boyfriend leaving for college isn't as upsetting as you may think it is. I still get to go out and see him and it's our second year doing this anyway, so I'm not overly worried. His plan is to be a vet. Fingers crossed that he will make a lot of money one day and I can just be a trophy wife.

Lastly, soccer. My legs are killing me. I literally can't walk from one end of the room to the other without limping halfway through. On the bright side, I'm pretty sure I am getting a starting spot which has me super excited. And the girls on the team are amazing (17 girls all together every morning at 7 and no fight has broke out yet. Who knew?) I'll have to keep you posted on how I am doing because I feel I have a right to brag about my superior soccer skills. That's a lie, I only have my speed to help me out here. So, ya. That's basically an apology and my life story all rolled into one. :)

basically...storming

having enough time to take pics on the job...

Today was a great day life guarding (shocking, i know), because it did nothing but rain all day long. It's not that I hate sunshine or anything, or even being cold when it rains. I do, however, enjoy the following:

  • napping because I have free time
  • finishing my ab workout
  • not having to deal with obnoxious kids
  • leaving work early
  • kicking kids out of the pool
  • ordering wings
The one thing that may have ruined my morning, other than my cranky boss (actually, he was chipper. MUCH too chipper), was having to get into freezing water this morning for swim lessons just to get out again 5 minutes later. Being cold all day for almost no reason was not fun at all. Once again, I don't hate my job, I just like to complain. But, I love my free days even more. So, when it is basically storming out, we get real happy here at the pool.

basically...what's happening

My senior prom....I'm fabulous, right?
My sister blogs. And she LOVES it, and is super funny. I thought that I have gotten enough shout outs in her posts that the world needed an inside view on all that is Taylor. Here it goes.

My amazing support system away from home.
I've just graduated high school and am loving it. I can't wait to get to college and learn more about life (even though it is just a community college). I just celebrated another birthday and started my summer job within a few weeks of each other. So far, I can't complain. I have a great family, a great future, and I'm ready to get started.

The one thing you will definitely be hearing lots about is my summer job. I'm a lifeguard. And, yes, I have been referred to as the girl from sandlot by a kid  who thought of himself as 'Squints' (long story). Well, not that i hate my job, I mean, I get paid almost eight dollars an hour to get tan and yell at little kids. Seriously, it can't get better. However, I could do without the snarky people that show up. Like I said, you'll be hearing more. So that's basically what's happening.
